Vinoterra Kisi

I was recently in Norway and the wonderful server was pouring an Italian red but waxing poetic about white wine from Georgia, “You must have the white wine from Georgia, my mother loves.”

An American with British company in Norway speaking to a Polish waitress pouring an Italian wine recommending Georgian wine. What a beautiful quilt, no?

And as I was back home grocery shopping at Whole Foods nonetheless, intuition had me pause on a certain aisle and shelf, and lo and behold: a Georgian white!

To say this wine is interesting is to say the least.

With this wine, we are skipping spring and straight into summer. The part of summer where you’re almost sick of sweet and the juicy harvest of everything and even the rosé won’t soothe you–you want something tart. I was taken aback by the pour, which was that of a minimum contact orange wine, less a white more an amber. It was golden tart nectar wake me out of sun stoned splendor interesting.

There are layers to Georgia.
